Sally Herigstad is a retired certified public accountant and the author of Help! I Can’t Pay My Bills: Surviving a Financial Crisis (St. Martin’s Griffin). She has been writing about debt, saving money, taxes, and other personal finance topics since 1998. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a licensed real estate broker in Washington state, and earned a Bachelor in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting.
When Sally began writing in the personal finance division of Microsoft, her goal was to explain financial concepts to people simply and clearly, but without sacrificing accuracy. Ten years of writing a column at CreditCards.com and receiving letters from readers every week kept her in touch with people’s real-world problems and questions.
