Reward checking accounts typically pays a rate of return or offers some type of perk to those who have money on deposit in that system. Usually for a reward checking account to be in good standing, a depositor must meet monthly minimum requirements including (but not limited to):


  • Direct Deposit
  • Online Bill Payment
  • Regular debt card activity
  • Opt in to receive electronic statements (no paper)

  • Call or visit a banking representative and ask them to take the time to clearly discuss all the features (both positive and negative) associated with the reward checking account you are interested in
  • Check the bank rating of the financial institution you are considering depositing money with
