San Diego National Bank has one suchoption thanks to their Market Rate Checking account. The structure of the checking account interest rates is tiered, meaning the more you put on deposit the higher checking account interest rate you will earn. The tier structure is as follows:

  • $0.01-$999.99 can earn 0.05% APY
  • $1,000-$9,999.99 can earn 0.10% APY
  • $10,000-$24,999.99 can earn 0.15% APY
  • $25,000-$49,999.99 can earn 0.15% APY
  • $50,000-$74,999.99 can earn 0.20% APY
  • $75,000-$99,999.99 can earn 0.20% APY
  • $100,000+ can earn 0.25% APY

San Diego National Bank requires depositors to meet certain terms and obligations to qualify for their best checking account rate. These rules include:

  • Minimum opening balance of $100 required
  • Balances of $10,000 or $25,000 in combined deposits required to avoid monthly service charges
  • Complimentary online banking with bill pay
  • Free one year use of safety deposit box
  • FDIC insured

San Diego National Bank was first established in 1981 and now has locations throughout southern California with branches in areas such as Chula Vista, San Diego and Temecula. Recently U.S. Bank has assumed all of the deposits and purchased most of the assets of San Diego National Bank.

The financial institution has incorporated a grey whale into their logo and brand identity. This move was done as the headquarters location at Kettner and Ash has a life-size mural of grey whales painted by the internationally known environmental artist, Wyland.
