However, the conditions for getting the 5% APY are quite strict. Therefore, it is worthwhile to look at the other Texas Heritage National Bank checking accounts.
If you have more than $25,000, the 5% APY is not available; in that case, your best bet is premier checking, which pays between 1.0% and 1.5% interest depending on the balance. You need at least $10,000 to avoid monthly fees and to earn interest.
If you can’t arrange for a direct deposit, you also don’t qualify for the 5% APY – in that case, the best interest rate you can get on small balances is 0.5% with Heritage Checking. You still need to maintain at balance of at least $1000.
Finally, if you have a small balance, the best you can do is avoid monthly fees with the Liberty Checking account.
