It looks so cool in the commercials – you receive a check, whip out your smartphone and deposit the funds straight into your account. But is depositing your check through a mobile banking app like Chase Quick Deposit really worth it?
We think so. First of all, Chase Quick Deposit is completely free with your Chase checking account. And it sure beats standing in line at the branch or hunting down an ATM.
If you aren’t tech savvy, using a mobile banking app can seem complicated. Just follow our instructions and you’ll be up and running with Chase Quick Deposit.
What You’ll Need
- A Chase checking account with Online Banking
- A smartphone such as an iPhone or Android
- The Chase mobile app, downloaded from the Apple App Store or Android Market
- A check you want to deposit
Using the Chase Quick Deposit Mobile App to Deposit a Check
Place the check on a flat, well-lit surface like a table or counter top. It’s a good idea to position the check on a plain background, like a white sheet of paper so that it’s easy for your camera phone to focus on the check.
Tap the icon for your mobile banking app to get started. Enter the username and password from your online banking account to securely log in. Then, click Deposit.
Press the ‘Check Front’ button to take a picture of the front of the check and activate your phone’s camera. Turn the phone over, and position the camera so that the entire check is within the borders of the box shown on the screen. When you’re ready to take a picture, tap the camera button.
The app will show you a preview and ask if you want to retake the picture. If you do want to retake it, press ‘Retake,’ otherwise click ‘Use.’ Next, press ‘Check Back.’ Turn the check over, make sure it is fully endorsed, and take a photo. If you’re satisfied with the image, click ‘Use’ to move on to the next step.
Once you’ve filled in all the required information, tap ‘Next.’ An email will be sent to you once the deposit has been received by the bank.
Tips to Keep in Mind When Using Chase Quick Deposit
Even though depositing your check with Quick Deposit takes just a few minutes, keep in mind that it can take up to 5 business days for the check to fully post to your account.
Before discarding the check, hold onto it until the funds have cleared. Once the funds have cleared, you can securely dispose of the check.
