Some details to note about CDs with PenFed:
- Interest is credited daily and compounded monthly
- Early withdrawal penalty for the terms of 3 to 5 years is 180 days of dividends (you lose all of your dividends if you withdraw before 180 days)
- The IRA CDs are available for the same rates
- IRA CD holders over the age of 59 1/2 can avoid most of the penalty
The minimum deposit is $1,000 ($500 for Coverdell).
