Chase Bank is being sued by a Florida woman who says the bank declared her as dead and ruined her credit as a result. After she and her husband attempted to have their mortgage loan modified, she said things took an ugly turn, leaving her no choice but to sue the bank.
Woman Says Bank Declared Her as Deceased 
Newly opened documents reveal JPMorgan Chase broke its duty to clients by failing to warn the investments they were involved in were headed for trouble. The documents, which were unsealed as a part of a lawsuit filed by bank clients against Chase, show that top executives at the firm had advanced knowledge of problems with an investment vehicle called Sigma, but chose not to move millions in client assets out of it.
JPMorgan Chase Knew Sigma Was in Trouble 
Major bank JPMorgan Chase admitted to NBC News that it improperly overcharged several thousand military families on their mortgages, including families of troops who are fighting in Afghanistan. In addition, the bank admitted it erroneously foreclosed on more than a dozen families.
Admission Stems from Lawsuit
NBC News recently conducted an investigation after learning about a lawsuit filed by Marine Capt. Jonathan Rowles. In the lawsuit, Rowles, a Marine for five years and backseat pilot of an F/A 18 Delta fighter jet, along with his wife, Julia, said they had been battling Chase for many years over the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). 
Customers would rather open an account at a credit unions or small bank over a big, national bank, according to a report released on Tuesday from the American Customer Satisfaction Index. While customer satisfaction with credit unions and small banks has dipped some, customers still favor them over major financial institutions.
