Since the Federal Reserve isn't exactly popular due to its alleged consumer protection neglect, it plans to reach out to consumers with a PSA that will teach credit card responsibility in local movie theaters. That's right, movie theaters. Coming soon to 12 U.S. cities will be information on how to use your credit card wisely.
What's This All About?
After the Federal Reserve failed to predict or prevent the financial crisis and didn't help consumers as credit card issuers and mortgage lenders begin their malicious practices, some have not been too happy with its performance. As a result, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) wrote a best-selling book called "End the Fed," and other lawmakers have been trying to find ways to cut back its power.
In order to make amends, the Fed is trying to get back in good favor by teaching credit card responsibility at a national level - or at least almost national. Twelve cities will have the opportunity to learn more from a 45-second PSA titled "Getting the Most from Your Credit Card" movie theaters through Dec. 3, 2009. Some previous ads on foreclosure ran in September.
How Can I See Them?
If you're interested in seeing one of these ads, you need to either live in one of the cities the ads will be shown in. Unfortunately, the Fed did not release the names of the cities; however, the rumor mill says that Olathe, Kansas and Long Beach, California are among the cities.
However, if you don't want to spend time hopping from theater to theater to catch a quick ad, you could always watch them here.
Do you think a theater PSA ad can effectively teach consumers credit card responsibility?
