Leadership management is actively and directing the dealing with the affairs of the business, institution or in this case, finances. It doesn’t always have to be a trained professional with leadership management abilities that has a say in a person’s investment portfolio, people should always be active participants when it comes to managing their own money and finances.
Sometimes a person participating in active leadership management will go against the grain of popular opinion, especially when investing. Many people like to follow a high-risk investment strategy because of the higher returns of a payoff. For example, perhaps you go to a horse race with a friend and you both place bets. Your friend is conservative and places money on the favorite to win. On the other hand, you are a thrill seeker and placed your money on the horse with the greatest odds against it, meaning that horse is against the popular opinion of winning (through cultivated statistics of course). If your friend’s horse wins he will only make a slight profit because of the odds, you on the other hand can earn a significant amount of money because the odds were against you. But in reality you have a greater chance of losing than your friend does because of those odds. That is what high-risk investments are like.
Whether you have your money managed by someone who has investment leadership management skills, or you are going to manage your portfolio yourself, it is important to diversity your portfolio and not place everything in high-risk investments. Yes, the payoffs can be huge but the losses can be devastating.
