Home Ownership Reaches 11-Year Low

Posted in Financial News , Foreclosure , Mortgage Rates

According to a report from the Census Bureau, the number of Americans who own homes fell in the second quarter of 2010 to the lowest level since 1999. The report said that home ownership dropped to 66.9 percent, which represents only a small drop from first quarter.

However, the massive drop from over a decade ago shows a lack of willingness in Americans to take on a mortgage loan. While the report did not specify why the drop is so significant, it could be assumed that the increase in foreclosures over the past couple of years could also play a role (CNN Money).
