When it seemed as if savings account rates couldn’t get any more lower than it already is – many banks decided to lower their savings account rates even more. If you have not checked the savings account rates at your bank, you should definitely check to see if the rates have lowered. For those who are making it a priority to save as much money as they can – this comes as disappointing news. However, don’t despair, you can always check to see if other banks have higher rates than the one you currently have.
Here is a list of banks that have recently dropped their savings account rates:
- Amegy Bank MMA – now 1.50% $1K+ ; was 1.75% $10K+
- Bank Provident Savings – now 1.75% ; was 1.90%
- Countrywide/BofA Savings – now 1.40% $10K-$50K ; was 1.50%
- iGObanking Savings – now 1.91% ; was 2.02%
- Intervest MMA – now 1.72% $2.5K+ ; was 1.75%
- Newtown Savings – now 1.80% ; was 2.30%
- Virtual Bank Savings – now 0.80% ; was 1.01%
- Zions Bank MMA – now 1.87% ; was 1.92%
- ADB Bank Direct MMA – now 2.05% ; was 2.10%
- AIG Bank MMA – now 1.96% $50K-$100K ; was 2.01%
- Ally Bank Savings – now 2.00% ; was 2.05%
- Corus Bank MMA – now 2.00% ; was 2.09%
- EBSB Direct Ssavings – now 2.02% $50K+ ; was 2.22%
- Mutual Bank MMA – now 1.97% ; was 2.01%
- OneWest/IndyMac Savings – now 2.00% $100K+ ; was 2.15%
- ProvidentNJ Direct Savings 3mo promo – now 2.75% ; was 3.01%
- SmartyPig Savings – now 2.75% ; was 3.05%
The only bank that has not changed their savings account rate is EverBank, which offers the 3.01% savings account rate for just the first short 3 months for new customers only as their promotion.
