Savings Tip: Avoid Paying for Labels and Brands

Posted in Saving Money , Savings Account

It can be a nightmare trying to save cash when you’re so tempted by all the fabulous name-brand retail out there. You see it on TV and maybe even in the possession of your friends and family. So why not get your own, you ask? It’s not so bad if you have an endless supply of money. But if it’s important for you to manage your budget then you may not want to pay for popular brands, if you don’t have to. There are definitely ways to get around this, especially if you keep certain ideas in mind.

More is not always better. In this case, more does not mean quantity, but instead, price. Spending more does not necessarily mean you’re getting the highest-quality item available. While there are a lot of name brand items that specialize in giving you the quality you’re paying for, some designers rest on their name alone, not necessarily offering what you’d hoped for.

Don’t be afraid to create your own personal style. Just because others around you love to pay for popular brands, doesn’t mean you have to. You’d be surprised by the great styles you can find from more generic designers. So instead of relying on names you hear on the runways of Paris or in designer shops to define your style, try creating your own look to better define who you are – and pad your bank account at the same time.

If you must purchase name brands … try going to thrift stores and consignment shops. Many times, individuals have purchased items they can’t fit, no longer like, or simply would like to give away – with the price tags still on them! By visiting these types of stores, you’d be surprised by the high-quality name brands you can find at low-end prices. This way you can save cash and better manage your budget without forgoing the styles you like.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to pay for popular brands. But if you really want to save cash and truly manage your budget then laying off of the more expensive items is a great way to go.
