As many states try to rebuild with the economy, many struggle to pull together enough funds to send out tax refunds this year. So far, Hawaii, New York and Rhode Island among others have had to hold off on sending out refunds until they feel they’re healthy enough to release the money.
Iowa’s money struggle has left the state without enough money to pay for the 50 temporary workers needed to process refunds. All of the states hope to get the tax refunds out no later than July. Makes you wonder whether the IRS should be penalized for sending late payments to taxpayers. Hmm… (New York Times)
