Opening a savings or checking account doesn’t normally top the list of the most exciting things in life. Walk into a branch or log on to the company’s website, open the account, deposit your money and move on. But what if you could snag $200 in the process? Now we’re talking.
Currently, New York City-based JPMorgan Chase is offering a checking and savings account promotion that could leave you with an extra $200 in your pocket. That amount is certainly not chump change. It could be used to help improve your financial situation by getting you ahead on a bill or two, paying off some extra debt, making a long-awaited repair on a household item or putting the money towards your emergency fund. If your financial situation doesn’t need much improving, meaning you’re debt-free and have a nest egg, consider treating yourself to a fancy dinner out, a day at the spa or that new electronic gadget you’ve been eyeing.
Chase Bank’s Checking Account Promotion
For new Chase customers, the cash bonus is easy to earn. Just sign up to receive a coupon, use it to open a Chase Total Checking account — which is subject to approval — at your local branch, set up direct deposit, deposit $25 or more upon the checking account’s opening, and have your first of monthly direct deposits totaling $500 or more made to the checking account within 60 days of opening. Once the requirements are met, you’ll receive your $150 bonus in your checking account within 10 business days.
With Chase Total Checking, there is no monthly fee as long as you meet one of these requirements:
- Monthly direct deposits totaling $500 or more
- Keep a minimum daily balance of $1,500 or more in your checking account
- Keep an average daily balance of $5,000 or more in a combination of Chase checking, savings and other balances
If you do not meet one of the three requirements, you’ll be charged a $10 monthly service fee.
Chase Bank’s Savings Account Promotion
You can receive $50 when you open a new Chase Savings account, deposit $5,000 or more in new money within 10 business days and maintain a $5,000 balance for 90 days. The new money must come from a different bank and cannot be previously held by Chase or its affiliates. The $50 bonus will be deposited within 10 business days once the requirements are met.
With Chase Savings, there is no monthly fee as long as you keep a minimum daily balance of $300 or more in your savings account, have at least one repeating automatic transfer of $25 or more from your Chase checking account, or link your Chase Premier Plus Checking, Chase Premier Platinum Checking or Chase Private Client Checking account to your Chase Savings account. If you do not meet at least one of these requirements, a $5 monthly service fee will be charged to your savings account.
So, in order to to receive the total $200 bonus, open both a Chase Total Checking account and Chase Savings account. Keep in mind that if either account is closed within six months after opening, the bonus amount will be deducted from your account balance at closing. This offer is valid through April 15, 2015.
