In 1938, ten teachers pooled $60 to form Educators Credit Union, originally chartered under the name McLennan County Teachers Federal Credit Union. Although the education community is the foundation of ECU's membership, the credit union now allows anyone who lives, works, or attends school in McLennan, Bosque, Falls, Hill, Coryell or Lampasas counties to apply for membership. Today, ECU is the largest credit union in Central Texas, with more than 36,000 community members of all professions and over $311 million in assets. Members enjoy access to eight convenient branch locations and ATMs in Waco, Copperas Cove, Marlin, Gatesville, Hewitt and Robinson.
ECU offers a wide variety of services at competitive rates. Whatever your savings goals, ECU has regular savings, youth accounts, certificates of deposit, IRAs, and investment products to help you reach them and invest in your future. Members enjoy having several checking account options to fit their needs, each with their own benefits. Members also enjoy additional services like online banking, discount tickets, safe deposit boxes, and overdraft protection. If you need to borrow for a vehicle, home, or other needs, ECU has a number of loans with affordable payment options. Founded in education, ECU offers special accounts, awards and scholarships for youth.
