Methodology: For this piece, GOBankingRates used Zillow’s Single Family Residence Home Value time series data for all 50 US states and D.C. For each state, GOBankingRates found (1) the February 2020 home value; (2) the January 2021 home value; (3) the gross change ($) over the course of COVID-19; and (4) the percent change to home value over the course of COVID-19. GOBankingRates ranked all the states against each other solely based on factor (4). All data was collected on and up to date as of Feb. 23, 2021.
