Here Comes the Sun: 10 Solar Stocks on the Rise
Increased attention on solar energy is impacting stocks.
The solar industry has been a hotbed for speculative investors for years, but it’s right on the cusp of going mainstream. Thanks to a number of factors, from the new, pro-solar Biden administration to lower manufacturing costs and greater social awareness, solar stocks are gaining mainstream investment attention. As with many nascent industries, there will no doubt be winners and losers in the solar space, and it will take some work on the part of investors to pick the companies that will remain standing.

Methodology: In order to identify solar stocks that are on the rise, GOBankingRates looked at the constituents of the Invesco Solar ETF and created a list of major solar companies traded in U.S. exchanges. Then, GOBankingRates used Google Finance data to find each stock’s closing price on (1) January 4, 2016, (2) January 2, 2020, (3) January 4, 2021, and (4) April 27, 2021. Then, GOBankingRates calculated the percent change in closing price between each of the three past markers and the closing price on April 27, 2021. Stocks were then scored against each other on the percent by which their value increased or decreased over each period and the top ten stocks with the best cumulative score were identified as those “on the rise.” Stocks which were not publicly traded through the entirety of the selected timeframe were excluded. All data was collected on and up to date as of April 27, 2021.
