The good news for renters is that rent prices are finally cooling down thanks to a combination of increased vacancy rates, new inventory, a cooling housing market and demand below typical seasonal levels, Rent. reports. However, on average, rents are still up 1.7% year over year as of February.
But this isn’t the case everywhere, and in 12 major cities, rent prices have actually fallen over the past year. Here’s a look at the metro areas where rent is getting cheaper, ranked from smallest to largest price drops over the past year.
