Google Play Points is a program that lets Android users earn rewards for purchasing apps, games and books on the Google Play Store and completing other qualifying activities. Keep reading to find out how the rewards program works and how you can use it to help you save money.

How To Earn Google Play Points

Once you join the Google Play Points program, you can start earning points from all the purchases you make from your account. To begin with, you will earn 1 point for every $1 you spend on Google Play. As a welcome bonus, you will receive 3x points for every purchase you make during the first week.

Here are some ways through which you can earn Google Play Points:

  • Purchasing apps, games or books on Google Play
  • Making in-app purchases or subscriptions
  • Subscribing to Google One from Android
  • Buying games on Stadia’s Android app

Note that you won’t be able to earn any points from purchases that you made before joining the Google Play Points program.

Google Play Points Levels

Once you earn enough points in a calendar year, you’ll reach the next level of the rewards program and have the chance to enjoy more benefits.

There are four levels of Google Play Points. Here are the features of each one:

Level Points Required Points Earned for Every $1 Benefits
Bronze 0-149 1 Events to earn in-game points; book multipliers
Silver 150-599 1.1 Weekly Silver prizes plus Bronze benefits
Gold 600-2,999 1.2 Weekly Gold prizes plus Bronze benefits
Platinum 3,000 and higher 1.4 Weekly Platinum prizes, premium support plus Bronze benefits

You can check your points level from your Google Play account. When you make purchases, points are added to your account. You can find your new level (if you have moved up) at the beginning of the calendar year. When you move up to a higher level, you can earn more for every dollar you spend, thus making it possible to redeem your points for rewards more quickly as well.
