Forbes released its list of America’s wealthiest celebrities on Tuesday, Dec. 18. The celebrities topping the list — George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan and Jay-Z — have spent many years building their empires and net worths. But then there’s Kylie Jenner, who is also on that list of wealthiest celebrities, tied for fifth with Jay-Z.

At 21 years old, Kylie Jenner’s net worth of $900 million rivals those many, many years her senior. She’s on pace to become the youngest self-made billionaire ever, although there’s growing criticism from people who dispute her “self-made” accolade.

How Kylie Jenner Grew Her Fortune to $900M

Kylie Jenner was a bit lucky when it comes to the start of her career. As the youngest of the polarizing Kardashian-Jenner clan, the world was introduced to a 9-year-old Jenner when her family’s reality TV show premiered in 2007. The family’s matriarch, Kris Jenner, has spun “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” into an empire of endorsements, cosmetics businesses, fashion lines and sponsorships, which have catapulted her youngest child to become the family’s richest member.

Her “self-made” distinction might be up for debate, but her impending billionaire status cannot be disputed. The mother of 10-month-old baby Stormi has a varied revenue stream based on her star power.

The family signed a deal worth at least $150 million, which is split among the show’s principal cast members; however, Jenner’s cut is unknown, according to The Blast. She also starred in her own 2017 spinoff, “Life of Kylie.”

The bulk of Jenner’s wealth has been amassed by growing her beauty company Kylie Cosmetics into a nearly $800 million operation in just two years, Forbes reported in July 2018.

In addition to the company, of which she owns 100 percent, Jenner carries the distinction of being the first in her famous family to grow her ad equivalent value to over $1 million per Instagram post, according to social media data firm D’Marie Analytics, People reported. The young mogul has strategically parlayed her 121 million Instagram followers into a profitable revenue stream of six-figure endorsement deals.
