A few months after retiring from modeling, Gisele Bündchen will release a limited-edition book that highlights her 20-year modeling career — from her start in Brazil to her rise to become the world’s most sought-after model.
The book includes more than 300 photographs of Bündchen selected by the model herself, including the nude cover portrait by photographer Irving Penn, says publisher Taschen.
Gisele Bündchen’s book will cost a steep $700 and has a limited run of just 1,000 copies all signed by Bündchen. It goes on sale in November.
In all, the book seems to be more of a passion project for Bündchen. At most, it would generate around $700,000 in sales revenue, which would be just a drop in the bucket of Gisele Bündchen’s net worth of $360 million. It’s unlikely this book will make Bündchen much richer — even priced at $700 apiece — but with a huge net worth, the former supermodel can afford to take on the projects she loves without worrying too much about what they pay.
Gisele Bündchen’s Net Worth and Career Earnings
When she was modeling, Gisele Bündchen dominated the industry and remained the top-paid model in the world. She has held onto this title every year, with her earnings as follows, according to Forbes:
- 2008: $35 million
- 2009: $25 million
- 2010: $25 million
- 2011: $45 million
- 2012: $45 million
- 2013: $42 million
- 2014: $47 million
- 2015: $44 million
Over time, the gap between Bündchen and other models widened, with her out-earning the next highest-paid supermodels — Cara Delevingne and Adriana Lima — in 2015 by nearly five times over. According to Forbes, Bündchen has made more than any other model since 2002 with a total career earnings of more than $430 million.
It’s no wonder, then, that Gisele Bündchen’s net worth today stands at an impressive $360 million, as reported by CelebrityNetWorth. With a retirement account that’s worth a third of a billion dollars, Gisele Bündchen has earned some time off to enjoy her riches.
Gisele Bündchen’s Last Runway Walk
Still, Bündchen has other business endeavors, like the Gisele Bündchen Intimates line launched with Brazilian lingerie company Hope, as well as her continuing deal with Grendene. And although Bündchen has walked away from the runway, she might very well continue studio modeling and earning paychecks from companies like H&M and Chanel. On top of all that, Bündchen is also a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador and mother of two.
Gisele Bündchen: World’s Highest-Paid Model
Gisele Bündchen wasn’t always the world’s highest-paid model. She began modeling at just 14 years old. Now at age 35, she has a modeling career behind her filled with unprecedented success and achievement. She found success in the late ’90s, and in 2000 got her big break as a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
By the time she stopped modeling for the lingerie company in 2007, Victoria’s Secret was paying Bündchen $5 million a year. Already the highest-paid model in the world, she raked in $33 million in 2007, reports Forbes — three times what second highest-paid model Kate Moss made that same year.
Bündchen’s sources of income included modeling — she was the face of more than 20 campaigns — and endorsement deals, including a $6 million licensing contract with a Brazilian footwear company, Grendene.
