HBO’s ‘Westworld’ Cast: Net Worths and 9 Other Things You Need to Know

See Anthony Hopkins' net worth, James Marsden's net worth and more.

HBO’s latest sci-fi drama “Westworld” has already been renewed for a 10-episode second season — and for good reason. The thrilling show, which airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. EST, has achieved positive critical and fan reception in its first season.

This one-hour futuristic drama is inspired by the film of the same name written and directed by Michael Crichton. The show dives into the world of artificial intelligence and the human appetite for both heroism and sin. “Westworld” itself is a sort of virtual reality theme park resort set in a reimagined wild west past.

This world is filled with humanoid robot hosts who are there to fulfill guests’ every desire, including sex, murder and chivalrous efforts to save the day. Hosts’ — the artificial beings that make up Westworld — memories are wiped at the end of each day, so they can start anew with a new batch of guests — the people who visit the world.

1. Anthony Hopkins is the Richest ‘Westworld’ Actor

Anthony Hopkins plays Dr. Robert Ford, the creator and mastermind behind Westworld. He’s a genius, but might not be aware of how prevailing his humanoid robots could become over time.

Famed for his work in movies like “Silence of the Lambs” and “Remains of the Day,” Hopkins is Oscar-winning Hollywood royalty and the wealthiest actor on the show.

Here’s how much the “Westworld” cast is worth:

  • Anthony Hopkins net worth: $160 Million
  • Thandie Newton net worth: $20 Million
  • Evan Rachel Wood net worth: $8 Million
  • James Marsden net worth: $8 Million
  • Jeffrey Wright net worth: $7 Million
  • Luke Hemsworth net worth: $3 Million
  • Ben Barnes net worth: $2 Million
  • Shannon Woodward net worth: Unknown
  • Sidse Babett Knudsen net worth: Unknown

Born in Wales, Hopkins worked in theater before transitioning to film in the 1960s. The acclaimed actor was knighted by the British Empire in 1993 and became a naturalized United States citizen in 2000.

The internet is buzzing with rumors that Hopkins could win his first-ever Golden Globe and SAG Award for his outstanding performance in “Westworld.” You can also check him out in the upcoming thriller “Solace,” due out Dec. 16.

2. Evan Rachel Wood Was Engaged to Millionaire Musician Marilyn Manson

Evan Rachel Wood plays Dolores Abernathy, a host at the Westworld park since the beginning. She has an extremely sunny outlook despite the terrors you’ll see her undergo on screen, thanks to her memory being erased at the end of each experience. Dolores is different from other hosts, though.

“It’s so fun to play with all the different colors and the different modes, because when you’re playing AI you just approach it completely differently,” Wood told Entertainment Weekly. “In her character she’s this innocent prairie girl and damsel-in-distress princess, but underneath that she’s a very advanced, intelligent, strong being.”

Wood is no stranger to challenging roles. The actress and singer broke onto the scene in 2003’s teen drama “Thirteen,” and has worked for HBO before. She starred on “True Blood” for two seasons and also had a part in the cable network’s miniseries “Mildred Pierce.”

Back in 2014, Wood was sued for more than $30 million by the producers of the comedy “10 Things I Hate About Life” after she ceased to work on the project, according to Variety. Producers claimed she caused them financial damages, but Wood’s representatives said she had nothing to do with that, and that the production shut down when the producers ran out of money.

Throughout the duration of her fame, Wood has made headlines for her personal life, especially her love life. She was engaged to musician Marilyn Manson — whose net worth is $25 million — in 2010 and has dated other famous celebs. In 2011, she publicly came out as bisexual.

3. James Marsden Played Cyclops in the $1.8 Billion X-Men Franchise

James Marsden plays Teddy Flood, an old West cowboy host with a soft spot for fellow host Dolores. At the beginning of each story, Teddy is seen arriving to town on a train in search of his love.

Marsden has starred in countless films, including fan favorites like “The Notebook,” “Hairspray,” and of course the X-Men franchise, in which he played Scott Summers — or Cyclops. Outside of acting, he is also a musician — he sings and plays guitar and piano.

Another fun fact: Marsden was naked in his first scene in “Westworld,” in front of Hopkins, which made him a bit uncomfortable at first.

“I never thought I would be spending my first scene with Anthony Hopkins, one of the greatest and one of my favorite actors of all time, in my absolute nakedness,” Marsden told The Hollywood Reporter.

4. In Her First Multimillion-Dollar Movie, Thandie Newton Played a Vampire

Maeve Millay, brought to life on screen by Thandie Newton, is a Westworld host who owns the town’s saloon and brothel. She’s sexy and smart and appears jaded when it comes to living in Westworld.

Newton’s career reached star status in the 1990s with her roles in “Interview with a Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles” — alongside uber stars Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise — and “Beloved.” Since then she’s had notable gigs in “The Pursuit of Happyness,” “ER,” “Mission Impossible II,” and the Oscar-winning film “Crash,” just to name a few.

Recently, Newton told Entertainment Weekly that she was shocked by the violence against women when she first read Westworld’s script, but after meeting with the showrunners, she was fully on board.

“They explained how Westworld is aiming to show what human beings are capable of — that depravity — and subverting it,” Newton told Entertainment Weekly. “Artificial intelligence comments on human behavior, and that’s the real hook of the show. Every day that I was on the set, I felt like a women’s right activist.”

Luke Hemsworth’s net worth is $3 million.

Prior to Westworld, Luke appeared in movies such as “Infini,” “Kill Me Three Times,” and “The Anomaly.” Luke told GQ he hopes “Westworld” can reach the “Game of Thrones” level of success.

“It’s definitely similar in terms of the growing fan base, and the fact both have amazing genres: sci-fi and western,” he said. “I loved Game Of Thrones. I hope we can reach that level. I think we’re off to a good start, and if we can keep the ball running in the right direction then everyone will be very happy.”

Prior to her role in “Westworld,” Woodward was best known for her starring part on the television show “Raising Hope” from 2010 to 2014. She got her start being cast in three episodes of Nickelodeon’s popular series “Clarissa Explains it All,” and has appeared in “ER,” “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Criminal Minds,” and more.

Woodward mingles with famous friends in Hollywood, including the likes of superstar singer Katy Perry — worth $280 million — who has nothing but praise for Woodward. 8. Jeffrey Wright Was Part of the $1.5 Billion Hunger Games Franchise

Westworld’s head programmer, Bernard Lowe, is brilliantly acted by Jeffrey Wright. His character has increasing concerns about behavioral glitches within the hosts, specifically Dolores.

Wright is a critically-acclaimed actor, having won Tony, Emmy, AFI and Golden Globe awards. His acting career has spanned extensively over theater, film and television.

HBO is a fan of Wright’s — prior to “Westworld,” he had roles in the network’s shows “Boardwalk Empire” and “Confirmation.” He recently made waves on the big screen in “The Good Dinosaur” and most notably his part as Beetee, the electronics wiz from District 3, in the Hunger Games movies.

Outside of acting, Wright is involved in philanthropy. He is the founder and Vice Chairman of Taia Lion Resources, co-founder and Chairman of Taia Peace Foundation, co-founder of the Ebola Survival Fund, and is on the advisory board of the United Nations Democracy Fund.

She made her screen debut in a 1997 Danish film, “Let’s Get Lost,” and has since worked on several box office hits in Denmark and internationally.
