The Worst Stadium in (Almost) Every State To Watch Football

Attending a football game in person can be a thrilling experience, from cheering along with tens of thousands of fellow football fanatics to enjoying some delightful — even if insanely overpriced — stadium food as you root for your favorite team. While America’s best stadium experiences can create lifelong memories, there also are plenty of locations where the adventure can be more than a little underwhelming. From bad facilities to even worse food to just a lack of decent seating, America’s worst football stadiums have a way of turning a weekend afternoon into a decidedly mediocre experience whether or not your team wins.
GOBankingRates compiled a list of fans’ least favorite football stadiums in each state. Looking at every NCAA Division I and NFL stadium, the study used Google reviews to determine which stadiums got the least love by way of their average scores. And while the “worst” stadium in some states still might provide a pretty great time, others might make fans stay home and catch the game on the tube.

Methodology: GOBankingRates analyzed all 289 NFL, NCAA Division I and NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision teams’ football stadiums to find the worst stadium in nearly every state, according to fans. GOBankingRates ranked the stadiums by finding the Google review rating for each. The stadium with the lowest Google review rating in each state was considered the worst stadium in its state. In cases where two or more stadiums had the same Google review rating, the stadium with the lowest total capacity was named the worst stadium. The current capacity for each stadium was sourced from each stadium’s or stadium owner’s website or from third-party sources when not readily available. The 2020 residency stadium was analyzed for each team except in the case of the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders and University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Rebels as these teams are set to take up residency in stadiums that are currently unfinished for the 2020 season. These teams’ 2019 stadiums were analyzed instead. All data was collected on and up to date as of March 16-18, 2020.
