It’s a strategy that has cemented Walmart’s reliability to be there for consumers and has helped the retailer earn nearly $514 billion in net sales so far in 2019. But is Walmart open on Christmas Day this year?

Walmart Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Hours

To the dismay of many last-minute shoppers, Walmart’s Christmas hours will be very limited. Walmart hours on Christmas Eve will give shopping procrastinators the time to pick up any last-minute gifts, as the retailer will be open for business that day. Make sure to stock up on plenty of eggnog while there, because Walmart is closed all Christmas Day.

Walmart New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day Hours

Walmart is generally open most of the day, with the exception of some holidays. For those who tend to forget to stock up for their New Year’s celebrations, good news — Walmart stores will be open during their normal business hours on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

New Year’s Eve: Stores open; 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
New Year’s Day: Stores open; 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Walmart’s Holiday Return Policy

Walmart’s return dates are extended for gifts purchased between Oct. 24 and Dec. 25. Gifts with a 14- or 30-day return policy purchased during that time frame won’t have their return policy officially start until Dec. 26. For instance, gifts with a 14-day return date will need to be returned by Jan. 10, 2020 and gifts with a 30-day return date will need to be returned by Jan. 25, 2020. There will be no extension for gifts with a 90-day return policy.
