Hey, this is Ted Jenkin, just cuttin’ up some credit cards here and savin’ some money. I just wanted to give you your money minute, and I’m going to tell you what it is: The food in the middle sucks.

Now, why do I say that? Saving money is part about eating healthy. And when you go into a grocery store, what you realize is a grocery store is generally a rectangle with 10 or 20 aisles running down the middle. What you need to realize is all of the healthy food in the grocery store is in a complete rectangle on the outside, and once you get into the inside of the aisles, everything is in boxes. And that’s why the food in the middle sucks.

So if you want to stay healthy, it doesn’t matter what grocery store you go to, the way to do it is stay in the rectangle on the outside. Just shop in that rectangle; don’t go down the aisles, you won’t get caught with those extra clearance items or endcap items that cost you money, just focus on the outside. That’s where the healthy food is, and that is your smart money minute.
