The sun is setting earlier and earlier, school is starting up again and wearing white is taboo ’til next summer. The pool parties and the barbecues and the languid, long beach days are winding down. It can only mean one thing: Labor Day is here. And so too are droves of sales associated with the three-day weekend.
Retailers across the nation are drumming up dazzling sales, many starting on Friday, Sept. 3 and running through Monday, Sept. 6. But some retailers have already kicked off their sales and may host their specials past Labor Day.
Shoppers will face no shortage of deals celebrating the annual worker’s holiday — in fact, they may even find themselves overwhelmed by the flood of offerings. To help consumers more easily shop the holiday, GOBankingRates has compiled a list of some of the best specific sales in select categories.

Tech at Lenovo
“Shop Lenovo’s Labor Day sale and save up to 80% off,” said Julie Ramhold, senior writer at DealNews. “If you need a new device for school, work, or personal use, this is a solid sale to shop. Ordinarily, we see Lenovo cut about 65% off at max, so the potential for savings is much higher than usual.”

Coach Accessories at Macy’s
“Buy Coach items at Macy’s and save at least 40% off,” Ramhold said. “This sale offers prices starting ridiculously low for designer goods including sandals from $40, wallets from $39, and handbags from $117. If you’re doing holiday shopping early, or just want a new designer item for yourself, this is definitely worth checking out. The Taylor Tote in Pebble Leather in the color Rouge especially caught our eye as the color is suitable for spring and summer, and is also a nice fall look; plus it’s $165 compared [to] its usual $275, so you’ll save $110.”
Athletic Gear at Academy Sports & Outdoors
“The Academy Sports & Outdoors 3-Day Sale is offering up to 75% off,” Ramhold said.”It’s ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who want to stock up on different kinds of gear, including fan items (football season just kicked off, after all). These Skechers Crowder Cobretti shoes are on clearance: You can snag them for just $35.”
Appliances at Home Depot
“Upgrade your large appliances with Home Depot’s sale, offering up to 53% off,” Ramhold said. “Labor Day is a great time to shop for appliances, but we normally only see discounts in the range of 30% to 40% off; with Home Depot taking as much as 53% off in some cases, this is definitely a sale worth shopping. Several popular brands are discounted, including GE, Samsung, Whirlpool, LG, and KitchenAid, but what makes this even better is that in addition to those initial savings, you can also find further savings with select purchases that qualify for rebates.”
Pet Supplies at Chewy’s
“Chewy’s Labor Day sale is taking up to 50% off,” Ramhold said. “There are a ton of items on sale, and across multiple categories – it’s not just for cats and dogs! We buy most of our supplies for our cats from Chewy – they have fast shipping and their customer service is top-notch – so we might be a little biased. But I will say this cat toy is one of our latest purchases and one of our cats is already addicted to it. Even better, that’s one of Chewy’s special deals — adding that to your cart qualifies you for a $25 eGift card with a $50 purchase of eligible items.”
Camping Gear at REI
“REI is offering some really good Labor Day discounts, including up to 30% off camping gear and clothing,” Vissers said. “The company offers a great range of outdoor items and having an REI membership earns you additional discounts on top of the Labor Day sales.”

Mattresses at Tempur-pedic
“If you are thinking of upgrading to a Tempur-pedic, now’s the time to do it,” Vissers said. “Through Monday, you can save 30% on a Tempur Cloud mattress — bringing the normally $1,999 queen-size mattress down to $1,399.”
Travel at Priceline
“For shoppers planning upcoming travel, Priceline is offering up to $50 off hotels, flights and rental car reservations with the promo code “SUMMER50” — a savvy bonus for any upcoming holiday travel plans,” said Shannon Dwyer, deals and shopping expert at RetailMeNot.
