From kitchen supplies and bath towels to lamps and candles, you can always count on stores like Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Sears, Macy’s and Amazon to have what you need. Of course, as a savvy shopper, you also want to find your item of choice at the best price.
It’s always frustrating to buy something for your home, start using it and promptly realize you could’ve gotten it cheaper elsewhere. Make the most of your Macy’s and Pottery Barn coupons by learning where to find the best deals on popular home items.
1. KitchenAid Mixers
The mixer you buy is largely dependent on the product features you want. Macy’s offers a vast selection of KitchenAid mixers, so you have plenty to choose from. Plus, readily available Macy’s coupons means you can almost always avoid paying full price.
Sara Skirboll, shopping and trends expert at RetailMeNot, highlighted the KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer, currently on sale at Macy’s for $249.50 — using online coupon code “FIFTY” to get 50 percent off the $499 retail price. This same mixer retails for $349.95 at Williams-Sonoma and $349.99 at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
2. Comforter Sets
Bedding is the central focus of a room, so it simply must match. Comforter sets are an easy way to get everything you need, and Sears has a wide selection of budget-friendly options.
For example, the Cannon Seven-Piece Trellis Comforter Set is $129.99 in both full/queen and king sizes. In comparison, the Tommy Bahama Sandy Coast Queen Comforter Set in beige costs $249.99 at Bed, Bath and Beyond, rising to $299.99 for king-sized — and it only comes with three pieces.
There’s nothing like cuddling up under a warm, cozy blanket on chilly nights. Sears offers an array of affordable blankets that don’t put a dent in your budget.
For example, the Grand Resort Collection Plush Blanket retails for $39.99 to $59.99, but has been on sale for $24.99 to $39.99 — the price varies by size and color. A similar option from Pottery Barn, the Cozy Blanket, retails from $79 to $99, depending on the size purchased.
4. Cutlery Sets
If you love to save money by cooking at home, a cutlery set is a kitchen essential. But it can be costly if you don’t do your homework before you buy.
“Believe it or not, fancy cutlery sets don’t have to break the bank,” said Ivy Chou, marketing and SEO manager at DealsPlus. Chou found the Sunbeam Westmont 13-Piece Cutlery Set on Amazon for $18. The same cutlery set costs $24.29 on Overstock and $38.93 at Walmart.
5. Cookware Sets
Investing in a quality cookware set is often much cheaper than purchasing pieces separately. The abundance of Macy’s coupons helps make this purchase more affordable, and the store has a huge selection from which to choose.
Kyle James, founder of coupon site Rather-Be-Shopping, recommended heading to Macy’s for All-Clad cookware. The All-Clad Stainless Steel Seven-Piece Cookware Set is sold only at Macy’s, and was recently on sale for $499.99 — down from $699.99. The cheapest comparable item, the All-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Seven-Piece Cookware Set, can be found at Walmart for $524.99, said James.
6. Food Processors
Small kitchen appliances are some of the best deals at Macy’s. And, when it comes to food processors, Macy’s has you covered. The store offers a huge selection sizes, colors and brand names, ensuring you’ll find something that perfectly blends with your kitchen.
Macy’s coupons and regular sales also make the store an economical place to buy your food processor. James noted the KitchenAid Mini Food Processor retails for $59.99, but a recent promotion using coupon code FIFTY brings the price down to $29.99, compared to $44 at Walmart.
7. Le Creuset Cookware
Le Creuset can be a great addition to your kitchen collection, but it’s smart to shop around for the lowest prices on this durable and attractive cookware.
The Le Creuset Toughened 9.5″ Non-Stick Fry Pan retails for $105 at Crate and Barrel, but Amazon lists it for $76.97. The Le Creuset Toughened 4.25 qt. Non-Stick Sauté Pan retails for $155 at Crate and Barrel, but sells for $144.95 at Amazon.
However, James noted that the Crate and Barrel clearance section offers excellent cookware deals, including on Le Creuset items. Be sure to check for those deals before you buy elsewhere.
“The perfect way to spruce up a drab living room is by adding accent pieces, like Oversized Ivory Mongolian Faux Fur Pillows,” said Skirboll.
This particular pillow is $24.99 at World Market, but she said similar pieces often cost more at other retailers. For example, the Ivory Faux Fur Eyelash Pillow at Pier 1 Imports retails for $34.95, and the Norwegian Fox Faux Fur Pillow at Ethan Allen was recently on sale for $120.
Since you can buy two pillows at World Market for the price of one at other stores, Skirboll recommended heading there to stock up.
Target sells hundreds of vases. In addition to regular collections from celebrity designer Nate Berkus, the store regularly collaborates with guest designers, allowing you to score a vase from a fancy brand at an affordable price.
“Marbled-everything is in right now and you don’t have to pay more to keep up with the trend,” Skirboll said.
She found a Threshold Blue and White Marbled Vase at Target for $16.99 — a fraction of the price of comparables from other retailers. For example, Williams-Sonoma sells a Marbleized Ceramic Vessel in small and medium sizes that retail at $175 and $295, respectively.
10. Bath Rugs
Bath rugs add style to your space, while keeping the floor dry and warm. But purchasing one shouldn’t break your budget. Thankfully, you can typically pair a Macy’s coupon with the store’s huge selection of colors, styles and brands to find a great deal.
Featuring quick-dry technology, the Sunham Inspire Plus 17″ x 24″ Bath Rug — exclusive to Macy’s — was recently on sale for $10, noted Brent Shelton, online shopping expert for FatWallet.com. In comparison, the Airia Luxury Dry Quick Dry Tub Mat was $24.99 at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
11. Luggage Sets
Matching luggage looks great and it’s an economical way to get all the pieces needed for your next trip. Macy’s offers dozens of luggage sets and top brands to choose from — Samsonite, Delsey, London Fog — and regularly offers sales. If you time it right, you might be able to score a discount on your luggage and get free shipping.
Shelton found the Travel Select Kingsway Four-Piece Luggage Set on sale at Macy’s for $80. In comparison, JC Penney offers an American Tourister Fieldbrook Four-Piece Luggage Set for the current sale price of $119.99 — a reduction from its original price of $240.
A fun and easy way to make coffee, tea and hot chocolate, a Keurig could be a great addition to your home. If you’re planning to buy one, head to Macy’s, as the store offers a variety of machines to meet the needs of different households. Macy’s can also help you save big and, you should always keep an eye out for upcoming sales and coupons to maximize your savings, as the same items often have a higher price tag elsewhere.
Shelton found the Keurig K15 Classic Brewing System on sale at Macy’s for $74.99 using the FIFTY coupon code. This is a much better deal than the same exact item at Bloomingdale’s, which currently retails for $200.
13. Table Lamps
More than just a way to brighten a room, table lamps can serve as fantastic accent pieces. Pottery Barn is a great place to shop, because the store has plenty of styles at lower price points than you’d expect.
For example, the Cooper Table Lamp is just $79, which is a steal considering a similar piece at Crate and Barrel — the Merie Blue Table Lamp with Bronze Base — is $199.99.
Candles look amazing and smell great, and it’s good to keep a few on hand. Pottery Barn has a variety of gorgeous candles that can transform any space into a tranquil environment.
Many are very reasonably priced, including the Paper White Signature Homescent Candlepot — a 6.5-ounce jarred candle that sells for $19.50. In comparison, the 6.5-ounce Diptyque Baies Scented Candle costs $64 at Nordstrom.
15. Glasses and Dishware
Crate and Barrel furniture isn’t always the most affordable, but the company does have great deals on glasses and dishware. Offered in an assortment of styles, colors and sizes, you can save serious cash by heading to the store to stock up the next time you’re hosting.
For example, a set of 12 Eddy 11-ounce Everyday Stacking Glasses costs just $29.95 — or $2.95 when purchased separately — at Crate and Barrel. Conversely, Mikasa Drink4 Wine Glasses — a stackable set of four — are $19.99, so 12 would bring your total to $59.97.
