States That Spend the Most on Black Friday Shopping

Traditionally, Black Friday has been a major consumer holiday with the average American spending $297 on this shopping day in 2018, according to data from Kasasa. Things may look a little different in 2020, however. A recent TD Bank survey found that 41% of Americans plan to spend less on holiday shopping this year and 47% don’t plan to shop on Black Friday at all, with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic being the main reason consumers are skipping out this year.
While we can’t predict how much Americans across the country will spend during this very unique Black Friday, these are the states that were home to the biggest Black Friday spenders based on 2018 average spending. Take a closer look at what shopping on Black Friday may look like.
