How Much Every Generation Has Saved for Retirement

A survey by GOBankingRates asked Americans how much they have saved for retirement. While young adults unsurprisingly had less, there was a large number of older Americans who have yet to start saving, too. Take a look.

Gen Z

47.2% of 18- to 24-year-olds haven't started saving for retirement.

34.2% of young millennials, 25-34, haven't started saving.

Among older millennials, 35-44, 40% have not started saving for retirement.

45- to 54-year-olds aren't doing so hot on retirement savings, with 45% of them having $0.

Gen X-Boomers

Those in the 55-64 age range are doing significantly better. Only 25.7% have nothing saved.

Of those in the 65 and older group, about 23.7% have $0 in retirement savings.
