My Internship was an incredible learning experience. From day one, I was welcomed by a supportive team and worked on meaningful projects. The most valuable takeaway for me was understanding the importance of communication, collaboration, and taking ownership.
I started my journey as a Software Engineering Intern with a project called Ads Modernization, which was nearly complete when I joined as an Intern. I was assigned one of the final tickets, and it felt exciting to contribute to my first real-world project as part of the team. It played a key role in my growth by deepening my familiarity with the Ads platform, which is the primary platform we work on.
The mentorship and guidance received were amazing. All developers from the Internal Tools team were very helpful and friendly. They guided me through the challenges I faced on my tickets, answered my questions, and were always available for support when I needed it.

During my Internship, I was given a lot more responsibility on my team. I was an Intern, but I felt part of the team. I worked on 10 hub pages for the website with the designers. It was a challenge but it taught me a lot of helpful PM and communication skills. Ceci was a phenomenal mentor and manager. She was patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I learned so much from her and she is still a mentor to me.
Ask questions. Take notes. Don’t take anything personally. Even if it doesn’t end up being the internship of your dreams, get everything you possibly can out of it.
Nailah Anderson Jr. Content Project Manager – Former Design Project Management Intern

The GOInternship program provided more material and coverage from the trainer than my previous experiences. A takeaway from my Internship was being open to new challenges and asking as many questions as needed. As an Intern, it’s common to feel intimidated by managers or supervisors, but I was fortunate to have very open communication with my team.
Since becoming a full-time employee, the most exciting aspect has been fully owning my role and taking charge, all while having someone guide me and being able to answer questions from other teams. Although I’m still working on getting involved in more complex projects, I strive to maintain an open mindset and be receptive to new opportunities.
Alicia Araiza Cabrera Ad Ops Coordinator – Former Ad Operations Intern

I have never heard of a corporate company valuing their Interns as much as GOBankingRates. From day one of my Internship, I was welcomed into a collaborative team, treated as a valued team member, and pushed to reach my full potential. My tasks weren’t just busy work – I was given the opportunity to take ownership of key projects, contribute ideas that I was passionate about, and gain real-world experience in the operational and logistical setup of digital ads.
Not only did I learn the ins and outs of Ad Operations during my Internship, but I also gained crucial skills on how to be a valuable employee in the advertising industry–skills that directly helped me land a full-time position right out of school as a Media Operations Coordinator for GOBankingRates. I’ve had the exciting challenge of optimizing media on paid search, where I get to balance creativity with data-driven decision-making, always looking for new solutions in this ever-changing industry.
From the first day of my Internship to today, I have been amazed at how much I learned from experience on the job. I enjoy the fast-paced, challenging environment that requires creative solutions, and the knowledge-sharing here between such talented team members cultivates both personal and professional growth. The Internship wasn’t just a stepping stone; it laid the foundation for a career where I’m continually learning, evolving, and contributing in meaningful ways.
Emma Horner Media Operations Specialist – Former Ad Operations Intern

My experience was immersive and hands-on. I was thrown into doing the work pretty quickly, but I was highly supported by my mentor and team. I never felt lost or like I was struggling. The most intensive project we worked on while I was still an Intern was the banking headroom analysis which led to us finding a lot of repub opportunities for the content team. With each new extension of my internship, I just grew more and more and it prepared me for my full-time role at GBR. From the moment I joined my team, I felt welcome and supported and it made becoming a full-time member feel very natural.
The takeaway from my Internship experience was learning to ask questions even if they felt a little stupid and to participate in conversations even if you feel unsure about what you are saying because flexing your brain a bit is what will help build knowledge and experience and prepare you to better understand your future roles and set you up for success.
Renee Ross SEO Coordinator – Former SEO Intern

The most valuable takeaway I have from my Internship experience is developing meaningful connections and a more strategic mindset, which has not only helped in my career but has also fueled my personal growth. The mentorship and guidance I received through my Internship were extremely meaningful to me. I have received support and guidance from many people at the company and everyone is always very open to help.
With this experience I have been able to recognize where I truly excel, encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone, and build confidence in every aspect of my life. I am now more driven and prepared to face challenges to help me grow stronger, knowing I have a supportive team to help me along the way!
