Citi online banking makes it easy to manage your accounts. If you want to open an account with Citi or Managing your Citi account online is straightforward — whether you’re logging in for the first time, resetting a forgotten password, or setting up the mobile app. Here’s everything you need to know to access your account quickly and securely.

How to Register for Citi Online Banking

Before you can log in, you’ll need to register for online access. The process takes just a few minutes.

1. Go to Citi’s website and click “Register for online access” in the Sign On box
2. Enter your credit card, debit card, or bank account number and click “Continue”
3. Enter the last four digits of your Social Security number, ITIN, FTIN, or date of birth — whichever you provided when opening your account
4. Verify your identity using your ATM PIN or a one-time code sent to your phone
5. Create a User ID and password and enter your email address
6. Accept Citi’s Terms and Conditions and confirm your enrollment

How to Log In to Your Citi Account

On Desktop

1. Visit the Citi login page
2. Enter your User ID and password
3. Click “Sign On”
4. Always sign out when your session is complete

Security note: Never select “Remember My User ID” on a public or shared computer. When you’re done, clear the browser’s cookies and cache to protect your personal information.

On the Mobile App

1. Open the Citi app on your smartphone or tablet
2. Enter your User ID and password
3. Tap “Sign On”
4. Sign out when you’re finished

Once logged in, the app lets you check balances, review transactions, lock a misplaced card, and enable biometric login — face or fingerprint — for faster access in the future.

How to Download and Set Up the Citi Mobile App

If you’re using the Citi app for the first time, here’s how to get started:

1. Download the Citi Mobile app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)
2. Accept Citi’s Terms and Conditions
3. Tap “Register or Activate a Card” and select your account type — credit card, debit card, or bank account
4. Scan your card or enter the number manually
5. Enter the last four digits of your Social Security number (or ITIN/FTIN if applicable) and tap “Continue”
6. Verify your identity using a one-time passcode or ATM PIN
7. Create your User ID and password to complete setup

How to Reset Your Citi Password or Username

Forgot Your Password?

1. Go to Citi’s password reset page
2. Enter your ATM/debit card number and ATM PIN
3. Enter the checking or savings account linked to your card and click “Continue”
4. Verify your identity using your User ID and the last four digits of your Social Security number
5. Follow the prompts to create a new password

Forgot Your Username?

1. Go to Citi’s homepage and click “Forgot User ID” in the Sign On box
2. Select your account type and enter your card number
3. Click “Continue” and follow the instructions to recover your username

When you sign in from a new device or location, Citi will automatically send a one-time verification code to your phone number or email on file. Enter the code to confirm your identity and proceed.

If you get a new phone with a new number, update it in your Citi account before you lose access to your old number. Here’s how on mobile:

1. Tap “Profile” at the bottom of the screen
2. Tap your name, then “Mobile Phone”
3. Update your number and save

How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account. To turn it on:

1. Log in to your Citi account and tap “Profile”
2. Under “Settings,” tap “Security Center”
3. Tap “2-Step Authentication,” then “Learn More”
4. Tap “Get Started” and toggle the feature on

Once enabled, you’ll be required to verify your identity with a second step every time you log in from a new device.

Troubleshooting Citi Login Issues

If you’re having trouble logging in, try these steps before calling customer service:

• Switch devices: If you’re on desktop, try the mobile app — or vice versa.
• Try a different browser: Sometimes browser compatibility issues can prevent login pages from loading correctly.
• Disable your password manager: Try entering your credentials manually to rule out autofill errors.
• Clear your cache: Delete cookies, cached files, and temporary data from your browser settings, then try again.

How to Keep Your Citi Account Secure

• Avoid public Wi-Fi when accessing your account. If you have no choice, disable public file sharing on your device and consider using a VPN for a private, encrypted connection.
• Watch out for phishing. Always log in by going directly to Citi’s official website — never by clicking a link in a text message or email. Fraudulent links are one of the most common ways accounts get compromised.
• Act fast on security alerts. If Citi sends you a login alert for a device or location you don’t recognize, follow the instructions in the alert immediately. Your account may have been accessed without your permission.
