Who doesn’t want to live in a city that’s growing and thriving? If you’re in the market for a new city to call home, it’s helpful to know which ones are attracting people.

Here’s a look at six of the best up-and-coming cities for the upper class to live in 2024.

North Port, Florida

It may not surprise you to see Florida on this list. After all, many cities in the state have seen strong population growth.

When it comes to up-and-coming smaller cities, The Hill ranks North Port among the best. According to The Hill, “North Port finished with the largest population growth over the past five years, seeing roughly a 28% growth in people moving there.”

New Braunfels, Texas

Along with Florida, Texas fared very well in MoneyGeek’s assessment of up-and-coming cities. According to MoneyGeek, “Florida and Texas showed significant growth potential and are home to 20 and 14 cities of the most up-and-coming cities, respectively.” Of note, Texas cities showed especially good promise in housing development and new businesses.

One of the Texas locations on the list is New Braunfels. The average annual GDP growth there is about 6.8%, and the five-year population growth has been close to 20%.

Fort Myers, Florida

Do you still think of Fort Myers as a retirement town? Think again. Reno, Nevada

Las Vegas may not be your style, but how about Reno? Known as “The Biggest Little City in the World,” you’ll find more than just neon lights and casinos here.

According to U.S. News, it’s one of the fastest-growing places in the U.S. and may be an more attractive option than Las Vegas for people who are considering a move to the Southwest. Those reasons include great cultural events and outdoor activities, without the overwhelming gaming atmosphere you may find in Las Vegas.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

In Baton Rouge, enjoy the flavors of New Orleans without all the tourists. Again, this location is listed among the fast-growing places by U.S. News.

“Warm year-round and located right off the Mississippi River, the city moves at a suburban pace while offering the opportunities of a flourishing cultural hub,” U.S. News reported.
