The right to live in a safe neighborhood should be a given, but, unfortunately, the U.S. is riddled with dangerous areas. And the danger, in this case, isn’t wild animals or climate change; it’s people. Dozens of major metros see thousands of crimes happening per year, many of them violent. And though it has its idyllic oasis-like qualities, Florida has formed a reputation of being a pretty rough place, in some parts. A study from WalletHub, found that the Sunshine State landed in the bottom five of safest states in America in 2025, coming in at No. 46.
Among Florida’s most high-crime cities are Lake City, Daytona Riviera Beach and Cocoa. But there are also cities where crimes are few and far between. SafeWise, a safety and home security research group, ranked the five safest cities in Florida. GOBankingRates sourced data on cost of living using RentCafe, Payscale or AreaVibes, and found average home values (as of May 12, 2025) using Zillow. Data on violent crime rates and property crime rates was sourced using CrimeGrade.org. Here are the safest places to live in Florida and what they will cost you.
