If you’re looking to buy a home, you might be discouraged by recent market conditions. Homes are hard to find and prices continue to rise — in some areas by quite a bit.

PropertyShark year-to-date residential sales show which ZIP codes had the most expensive homes. Their findings showed a record 15 ZIP codes had median sale prices of $4 million. That’s no small amount of money.

To find out where homes are selling for median prices in the millions, read on.

Atherton, California (94027)

2024 median sale price: $7,900,000

Atherton is home to tech billionaires, venture capitalists and other members of the Silicon Valley elite, so it’s no surprise that it tops the list. Those living in Atherton spend $182,418 annually, which is almost four times the average annual salary for an American.

Sagaponack, New York (11962)

2024 median sale price: $5,950,000

You might think that real estate was priciest in Manhattan, but this Hamptons village on the east end of Long Island takes the cake in the state. The area has seen a decline in price, as Sagaponack saw a median sales price of $8.08 million last year.

Water Mill, New York (11976)

2024 median sale price: $5,885,000

Another Hamptons hamlet tops the list not far behind Sagaponack. Water Mill has seen a 31% jump in pricing since last year. It makes sense for a place where Jennifer Lopez owns an eight-bedroom home.

Miami Beach, Florida (33109)

2024 median sale price: $5,750,000

Previously, GOBankingRates reported Palm Beach as the most expensive ZIP code in Florida, but Miami Beach is now king. This is the fifth year in a row that prices have increased in the area.

Santa Barbara, California (93108)

2024 median sale price: $5,052,000

California makes another appearance on the list with Santa Barbara — more specifically Montecito. This is the highest median sales price the area has ever seen. It might be thanks to the celebrity residents, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Newport Beach, California (92661)

2024 median sale price: $4,763,000

California starts to dominate as we get further down the list. This area in Newport Beach includes a lot of beautiful and desirable beachfront property, which has contributed to its home prices continuing to rise. This area includes Balboa Pier and Peninsula Point.

Newport Beach, California (92657)

2024 median sale price: $4,720,000

Yes, you’re seeing double. Two Newport Beach ZIP codes made the list back to back. This is specifically referring to the Newport Coast area. Tony Robbins, Cindy Crawford and Ryan Seacrest all own homes in Newport Coast, so you know it’s a pretty exclusive place to be.

Newport Beach, California (92662)

2024 median sale price: $4,650,000

After its third appearance, it’s safe to say that it’s very expensive to live in Newport Beach. This area is specifically Balboa Island. The island saw a 19% increase year-over-year. This is the first time the area has seen a median sales price over $4 million.
