Millennials are now the largest generation in the U.S. labor force, according to the Pew Research Center, a situation that will persist well into the future, until, perhaps more of Gen Z come of age. Millennials have been good at securing some of the highest-paying jobs available, so how does their pay compare to the average American’s?
GOBankingRates determined how much millennials are earning in every state from the 2022 American Community Survey, conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau. GOBankingRates defined millennials as those born between 1981 and 1996, making them between age 26 and 41 in 2022.
The study found that millennials are making more money than the workforce as a whole, perhaps because of the unique strengths they bring to the workplace. In most states, the difference between median millennial earnings and median statewide earnings is fairly significant, between a few thousand dollars and, in others, more than $10,000.
