You’ve heard of shopping for high-quality items considered quiet luxury, but what about towns with quiet luxury appeal? Several cities are becoming increasingly popular destinations for the wealthy to travel to and buy real estate in, thanks to their exclusivity and somewhat off-the-radar locales.
Marketing company Livability recently compiled a list of 11 quiet luxury destinations worth visiting but didn’t expand on the cost of living in one of these idyllic towns. To determine the cost for families, GOBankingRates pulled existing data from Sperling’s BestPlaces and ranked each of the 11 towns from most to least expensive vs. the national average, as this percentage pertains to a family.
Here’s what it costs to reside in 11 popular quiet luxury towns.
Montecito, California
- Cost of living per month for a family: $65,070
- % more expensive than the national average: 1,105%
- Total for the year for a family: $780,840
Aspen, Colorado
- Cost of living per month for a family: $47,820
- % more expensive than the national average: 786%
- Total for the year for a family: $573,840
Martha’s Vineyard (Dukes County, Massachusetts)
- Cost of living per month for a family: $21,360
- % more expensive than the national average: 296%
- Total for the year for a family: $256,320
Kauaʻi County, Hawaii
- Cost of living per month for a family: $13,710
- % more expensive than the national average: 154%

Newport, Rhode Island
