The cost of living in New York is among the highest in the United States. In fact, it’s only less expensive than Alaska, Massachusetts, D.C., California and Hawaii, according to the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center.

But although many parts of New York are expensive, not every city has such exorbitant prices. Places like New York City and Jericho are definitely up there, but other areas — like Jamestown and Red Creek — are much cheaper.

GOBankingRates compiled data from Sperling’s BestPlaces, the Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Expenditure Survey, the U.S. Census American Community Survey, and AreaVibes to determine which New York cities have the highest and lowest cost of living so far in 2024. Here are the top 10 results for each.
