Although inflation has slowed, in most cases, buying Thanksgiving essentials won’t be any less expensive this year than last year.
According to Wells Fargo’s annual Thanksgiving report, “despite food-at-home inflation slowing to 2.4% since last October, this year’s celebration will not be less expensive. That’s because there are record price spreads between the wholesale price supermarkets pay versus the retail prices consumers pay — and the difference is impacting some of the most popular holiday dishes, including turkey and ham.”
However, Aldi seems to be bucking this trend. The supermarket chain will be selling a Thanksgiving meal that serves 10 people for around $47 — its lowest-priced Thanksgiving meal since 2019.
“Every day at Aldi, we are focused on finding ways to deliver the lowest possible prices for our customers — and this Thanksgiving is no different,” Jason Hart, CEO of Aldi said in a news release. “With 25% of U.S households now shopping Aldi, we know grocery prices are still top of mind for customers. We worked hard this Thanksgiving to deliver the best value and quality products so everyone can enjoy a traditional meal with family and friends without having to scale back.”

Aldi’s 2024 Thanksgiving Basket
Aldi’s $47 Thanksgiving package includes a 16-pound Butterball turkey with spices, gravy, rolls, mac and cheese and stuffing. It also includes the ingredients for cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie.
The 2024 Aldi Thanksgiving basket is available now through Nov. 27, and you don’t need a coupon to score this deal.
“Coming in at less than $4.70 per person, the meal delivers on the traditional, crowd-pleasing favorites that guests crave without the sales, coupons, minimum purchase requirements, loyalty cards and other hoops required to save at traditional grocers,” the news release stated.
How Aldi Keeps Prices Low
Aldi is well-known for having low grocery prices, and its affordable Thanksgiving offering is no exception.
“Everything Aldi does, from using a quarter cart system and displaying products in their original boxes to having a smaller store footprint, helps customers save up to 40% on groceries compared to traditional grocery stores,” the news release stated.
