What You’ll Need

1/2 cup almond oil

1/2 cup coconut oil

1 cup raw organic shea butter

Essential oils (20 drops lavender, 5 drops chamomile, 10 drops jasmine)

Mason jar

Many of these ingredients can also be used to make a simple DIY lotion bar.

How to Make Your All-Natural Body Butter

Step 1: Create a double boiler by placing a glass mixing bowl on top of a pot of water. Heat until water is boiling.

Step 2: In the mixing bowl, add the coconut oil and shea butter and let them melt together.

Step 3: Remove double boiler from stovetop and let the shea butter and coconut oil mix cool for 15 minutes.

Step 4: After the mix has cooled, add the almond oil and essential oils. Stir.

Step 5: Place the mix in the freezer until it has solidified.

Step 6: Once solid, take an electric beater and whip the mixture until creamy and fluffy.

Step 7: Transfer the mix into a mason jar for easy storage.

Make It Your Own

Instead of dropping a cool $20 to purchase a similar product in a store, you can create this one right at home for just $6. You can even make it unique by adding a little something extra:

Customizing the Scent

If you’re not feeling the scent combo of the lavender, jasmine and chamomile, feel free to pepper in your own scents.

Adding a Little Glitz

If you want to add a dash of sparkle to your moisturizing routine, feel free to sprinkle some biodegradable body glitter into your mix before it solidifies for an added glimmer.

Bringing It Back to Nature

Another benefit of creating your own body butter is knowing exactly what is going into your creation. Many store-bought lotions and moisturizers feature unpronounceable chemicals and additives, whereas you know every ingredient that is present in your mix.
