Many people choose Airbnb stays over hotels now because of both affordability and novelty — an Airbnb often has individual touches and unique charm that a standard hotel might lack. Now you can attempt to stay in one very special Airbnb house — actress and goop mogul Gwyneth Paltrow’s own Montecito, California, guesthouse. Better yet, she’ll be there to host the lucky couple.

Of course, there’s a catch. This house will only be open for one night, on Sept. 9, for a maximum of two people, and you can only try to book it on Aug. 15th. Given the high number of people likely to try to book, it may be little more than a publicity stunt, but an exciting one for the lucky bookers.

As to why Paltrow is opting to do this, she made an Instagram post stating that it may be a way to foster some connection. She writes, “Loneliness is a human condition, but in the past few years, increased isolation and our lack of community has made our lives even more fragmented.” She writes that Airbnb invited her to do “something to make the world a little less lonely,” thus her idea to rent out the guesthouse for a night.

She offers more than just a stay, but potentially “connections and commonalities over a delicious meal. Lay by the pool, go on one of my favorite hikes and of course you’ll have a bathroom stocked with my favorite @goop products for a truly luxuriating stay.”

Here’s a little more about the experience one can expect.

What Is the House Like?

For the couple who manages to make it through to booking, they will get to stay in a lovely house with clean open spaces in neutral colors with a lot of light. The guest house includes one bedroom (which sleeps two in a queen-sized bed); one bathroom with white marble tile and gold accents, and a deep soaking tub; and a small living area with sofa, coffee table, wood burning fireplace, and attached kitchen. Outside you’ll find an impressive pool with poolside chaise longues for restful relaxation. Paltrow describes the space in her Instagram video as “[t]his is nestled right in nature so you can come and have a Zen moment with lots of light and fresh air.”

Of course, you won’t have to worry about cooking as Paltrow plans to make her guests a “nourishing goop Kitchen-inspired meal.” She describes that meal as a “chef’s dinner” in what is likely a very impressive wine cellar where guests can choose “whatever bottle of wine you like.” She does ask potential guests to list any allergies they might have.

The guesthouse is a separate but adjoining unit next to the larger house that Paltrow lives in. Paltrow told Architectural Digest when designing the home some years back that she was going for “a Parisian apartment set within an old European barn, something with high ceilings, flooded with light, a place that feels generous yet manageable at the same time.”

What Additional Amenities Are Included?

Additional amenities include a guided transcendental meditation session to “empower your mind,” as well as a goop-themed spa day with her favorite “beauty essentials” — specifically calling out goop’s Exfoliating Instant Facial — and “valuable techniques” that will help you toward “emotional health.”

Paltrow has strong feelings about this home. She writes, “My Montecito home is my sanctuary for respite and mental clarity. I go there to recharge, to daydream about what we’re building at goop and to reconnect with my family and treasured friends.”

She promises to deliver those same vibes to her guests, and to load them up with her “favorite goop essentials to nourish your body, mind and soul.”

So, if you’re fast and stealthy, and online at 10 a.m. PST on Tuesday, Aug. 15, you might be able to book this coveted stay for Saturday, Sept. 9.

What Does It Cost?

The current price on the Airbnb listing is set to $0, so it’s possible Paltrow is hosting two lucky guests for free, or else being cagey about the price so as not to turn off potential guests. Either way, it will likely be a memorable experience for whoever stays.
