The Inflation Reduction Act, signed into law by President Biden in 2022, provides $8.8 billion for Home Energy Rebates in its nearly $400 billion package to support clean energy. These rebates, which include cash back on appliances and energy-efficient renovations, could save American households a collective $1 billion a year on energy bills and create 50,000 jobs, according to the government.
As of May 29, 2024, 17 states have submitted applications for Home Energy Rebates. Which states are these and what is their application status? How much funding will these states get versus what they applied for (note: states and territories can apply for early administrative funding of up to 2.5% of their allocations, capped at $5 million, to begin developing their programs)?
Let’s explore, using data available from Energy.gov. States are listed in alphabetical order. You can also check out a list of states with EV credits, rebates and incentives as well.
