Being a celebrity comes with all the glitz and glamour, but not always the money. While most celebrities appear to have lifestyles that are varying degrees of famous, not all are rich. And even those who are rich often look for additional ways to add money to their ever-growing portfolio, with some striking it rich on these other avenues of revenue.

Here are some celebrities who got richer from their side hustles and in some cases, didn’t quit their day jobs.

Michael Jordan

Not only is Jordan considered one of the best players of all time in the NBA — if not the greatest athlete to have played the game — but is, according to Forbes, worth an estimated $1.65 billion in large part due to his line of shoes with Nike.

Phil Knight

The other major player in the Nike game is, of course, founder Phil Knight, who was just selling Japanese sneakers out of his car at the time he founded the now world-wide famous shoe brand. Knight not only retired from his Nike chairman position when he was 52, but continued to own 20%, which has added his overall worth to the tune of nearly $40 billion, according to Forbes.

Marc Benioff

Salesforce is now a force to be reckoned with in the business world, but for Marc Benioff, it was just a side gig for years while he worked full time at Oracle. Most of his wealth comes from the shares he owns in Salesforce, which estimates his total worth in the range of $6.7 billion, as reported by Forbes.

Rihanna

She might have 14 songs that went number one, which is impressive, but not as lucrative as her side hustle. Rihanna is known for her music and has made a fortune off of her personal beauty care line, Fenty, which is valued at $3 billion. Forbes said the artist has an overall net worth of $600 million mainly because she owns 15% of the company.

Jay-Z

Also known as Shawn Carter, Jay-Z is the first billionaire to come out of hip hop. While he has been making records since the late 80’s, much of his wealth was created outside of the booth, namely the Rocawear clothing line, D’Ussé cognac brand and music streaming service, Tidal, which Forbes said is worth $100 million by itself.

Ashton Kutcher

Known for playing the airhead character on “That 70’s Show,” Kutcher is actually very smart and savvy with his money. In 2016, Forbes estimated that Kutcher was worth $250 million. Along with his talent manager Guy Oseary, Kutch has invested in companies such as Skype, Uber, Pinterest, AirBnB, Spotify, Warby Parker and Shazam with the sum total of $30 million.

Jessica Alba

Alba has been a big Hollywood star for decades, with numerous memorable roles on the big screen. Even so, in 2011 she decided to co-found The Honest Company, which produces a line of all-natural household and baby products, which was valued at $1.7 billion in 2017 — adding to Alba’s overall net worth of $200 million, according to Forbes.
