With the holidays rapidly approaching and my list growing longer by the day, I decided to enlist ChatGPT’s help. Christmas shopping can be hard, but artificial intelligence (AI) can make it less stressful.
For last-minute shoppers, the chatbot can provide a gift guide tailored to your friends, family and budget. Here are the Christmas gifts ChatGPT said to buy this year, along with tips on how to save money.
Tree Hut Land of Sweets Mighty Mini Trio Gift Set
When asked what to buy for Christmas this year, the AI-assistant noted that what makes a great gift is knowing what the recipient likes and how much you want to spend.
Absent specific guidelines for gift giving, the chatbot provided a variety of “great all-around Christmas gifts,” beginning with the Tree Hut land of sweets mighty mini trio gift set, available from Ulta Beauty for just $15.99. ChatGPT said it is a great gift for someone who wants to pamper themselves.
Owala FreeSip Water Bottle
Another popular product recommended by ChatGPT was the Owala FreeSip water bottle. The 24-ounce stainless steel canister is available for between $23.99 and $29.99 from Dick’s Sporting Goods.
The chatbot listed the item as a “practical, everyday gift for anyone who drinks water on the go.”
Power Up Paper Airplane Kit
For the kid or kid at heart on the Christmas list, ChatGPT suggested the Power Up 4.0 smartphone-controlled paper airplane kit. The timeless appeal of paper airplanes gets a modern upgrade with smartphone technology. Users can get up to 10 minutes of fly time with this new and improved twist on a classic.
Available for $59.99 on Amazon, the gift is fitting for people of all ages.
Santa’s Workshop Cocoa Gift Set
Another gift to buy this Christmas, according to ChatGPT, is Santa’s Workshop cocoa gift set. The set includes three decadent flavors: dark chocolate, double chocolate and s’mores cocoa. Currently available at Bass Pro Shops for $8.98, each canister has 2 1/2 servings. As noted by the chatbot, the gift is perfect for “hosts, neighbors or anyone who enjoys a warm drink seasonally.”
As an alternative, budget-conscious shoppers could consider making an edible gift to give to loved ones. According to the 2025 Holiday Retail Survey by Deloitte, nearly 30% of respondents plan to make homemade food gifts. Homemade food items can even be made in bulk to help save money.
Ugg Men’s Tasman II Slippers
One of the pricier items recommended by ChatGPT was Ugg men’s slippers. Coming in at $124.95 at Nordstrom, the shearling-lined slippers scream luxury. The shoes make a great gift for a man that has everything. “A comfy, cozy gift that adds warmth and relaxation to everyday life — ideal for colder months,” according to the AI assistant.
Overall, while finding the perfect gift may be a legitimate love language, the experts at Ramsey Solutions want to make sure that holiday finds don’t bring buyer’s remorse in January. According to Rachel Cruze, shoppers hoping to save money should make a budget before spending any money and track their spending.
Editor’s note: Pricing and availability may vary depending on location.
