1. Kanye West Hired Kenny G To Serenade Kim Kardashian
Before there was trouble in paradise, which eventually led to divorce in 2022, Kanye West went all out for Kim Kardashian on Valentine’s Day in 2019. The rapper had the globally recognized saxophonist, Kenny G, surprise his then-wife in their living room, which was filled with single red, white and pink roses in individual vases.
Kenny G performed for the shocked reality star who shared the moment in a video posted to X (then Twitter), writing, “NO BIG DEAL KENNY G IN MY LIVING ROOM!!! Happy Valentines Day.”
2. A Luxury Mexico Trip Was Kanye West’s Next Valentine’s Day Surprise
As if the private concert wasn’t enough, West raised the bar the following year by surprising Kardashian with a trip to Mexico. The mom of four showed off the beautiful view with two Instagram photos of herself in a black bikini in the ocean, captioned, “Valentine’s Surprise Getaway.”
3. Chance the Rapper Gave His Fiancée a Private Barneys Shopping Spree
In 2019, Chance the Rapper gave his then-fiancée, Kirsten Corley, a Valentine’s Day to remember by shutting down the Barney’s New York flagship store in Chicago for a private shopping spree.
In a video posted to Instagram, the rapper said, “As I sit here on a shopping spree with my girl at the Barneys store; it’s shut down. I’m backstage after hours playing a [Nintendo] Switch […] Life is good.”
The pair married just weeks later, though they ultimately filed for divorce in 2024.
4. Cardi B Showed Off Offset’s Over-the-Top Chanel Valentine’s Gifts
Before Cardi B and Offset split for good in 2024, the songwriter and actor gifted his then-wife multiple Chanel bags for Valentine’s Day in 2022 — but that’s not all.
Their home was also filled with extravagant floral arrangements, including a striking heart-shaped sculpture by their pool. Cardi B showed off the elaborate celebration on Instagram, writing, “My day went like this yesterday …Love you my baby.”
5. Gucci Mane Upgraded His Wife’s Ring With a Massive 60-Carat Diamond
Gucci Mane spared no expense for his wife Keyshia Ka’Oir back in 2019. On Valentine’s Day, he gifted her a 60-carat diamond ring. He took to Instagram to show off the massive rock, captioning a brief video, “To my beautiful wife […] For all the Valentines I missed I wanted to upgrade your wedding ring to this 60ct flawless oval ROCK.”
6. Chip Gaines Took Valentine’s Day Public With Massive Waco Love Note
Former HGTV star Chip Gaines took the motto “go big or go home” to heart when he surprised his wife Joanna with oversized love notes on the side of silos in downtown Waco, Texas. He took to Instagram to show off his artwork.
Chip wrote, “Jo loves love notes! And I love [Joanna Gaines]. So I went on a late night mission here at the silos in Waco to try and put out a beacon to her heart.”
For most people, Valentine’s Day is about thoughtfulness — not spectacle. For the ultra-wealthy, however, spending and romance often come in the form of grand, expensive gestures that play out just as publicly as they do extravagantly (then frequently posted on social media).
