Celebrities are known for their ability to rake in the dough and the smart ones put their money toward valuable, lasting assets.
By the time stars reach their 50s, many have collected assets that equal a major share of their wealth, including art, cars and real estate holdings.
Here are some over-50 stars who own high-value assets and what they’re worth.
Leonardo DiCaprio: Art
Leonardo DiCaprio, 51, has a luxury art collection worth millions. In 2011, he purchased Salvador Dali’s “Chevalier” for $1.2 million, according to MyArtBroker. The actor also acquired “Under the Influence” by Oscar Murillo for $400,000. Some of the other art DiCaprio owns includes Takashi Murakami’s “Mononoke,” which he paid $735,000 for in 2013 (per the Wall Street Journal) and Walton Ford’s “Pacific Theater,” which he purchased for $250,000 in 2015, according to Page Six.
Dwayne Johnson: Cars
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, 53, owns a high-end car collection that includes a $2.55 million Pagani Huayra, a $1.4 million Ferrari LaFerrari and a $300,000 Rolls-Royce Wraith, as reported by GQ. His garage also includes multiple custom Ford F-150 trucks, a Lamborghini Huracan and a McLaren P1.
Jay-Z: Art
Jay-Z’s contemporary art collection is valued at about $70 million, per Social Life Magazine. In 2013, he and Beyonce purchased Jean-Michel Basquiat’s “Mecca” for about $4.5 million at auction, according to the New York Post. The 56-year-old also owns multiple Basquiat works of varying value that are displayed throughout Roc Nation’s New York headquarters, per Azure Magazine. Other pieces in the rapper’s collection include works by Damien Hirst and Richard Prince.
Jerry Seinfeld: Cars
Jerry Seinfeld, 71, owns one of the world’s most valuable Porsche collections, estimated to be worth more than $100 million, according to GQ. Among his collection are a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder, a 1986 Porsche 959 and at least two vintage 911s.
Oprah Winfrey: Real Estate
Seventy-two-year-old Oprah Winfrey, owns a luxury real estate portfolio valued at more than $200 million, per Social Life Magazine. Her Montecito compound, known as the “Promised Land” estate, is valued at about $100 million. Winfrey expanded the property with a neighboring 23-acre equestrian estate she purchased for $28.85 million in 2015, per Realtor.com. Outside California, she owns a Telluride ski home estimated around $14 million (as reported by GOBankingRates) and also holds about $60 million in Maui real estate, per Khon2.
