Melinda Sineriz has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Miami University and a master’s degree from Bard. She worked in insurance for six years, educating clients on Medicare supplements, life insurance, long-term care and annuities. She enjoyed helping clients make good financial decisions during and after retirement. She also worked in dental insurance, assisting clients with enrollment and understanding their benefits.
She’s been writing about personal finance for more than a decade. She’s written on a wide range of topics, including student loans, credit cards, insurance, investing, saving, budgeting and retirement planning. She believes in making sometimes-complicated financial concepts understandable to everyone and helping people avoid the financial mistakes she’s made in her life.
Melinda enjoys using technology to help with her financial life. Her current favorite apps are YNAB for budgeting and Catch to help her plan for tax time and life’s other expenses. She also uses Stash to micro-invest.
Based in Toledo, Ohio, she lives with her spouse, two dogs and a shifting number of cats. When she has free time, she enjoys reading, trying to write fiction, playing with her dogs and listening to podcasts.
