Working moms are under increasing pressure at work and at home. The State of Motherhood 2025 Survey Report from Motherly noted that 46% of employed mothers, including 50% of millennials, have considered leaving their jobs because of the cost and stress of childcare.

In many households, mothers shoulder more than half of the family responsibilities while also navigating high expectations from employers. According to the 2025 FlexJobs Working Parents Report, half of working parents surveyed said employers hold mothers to higher standards than fathers.

Those pressures may help explain why Google searches for “remote jobs for stay-at-home moms” have surged 190%, according to a recent GOBankingRates review of search data.

To help moms find more balance, GOBankingRates compiled a list of remote jobs with a realistic earning potential of $2,000 per month. Each role pays at least $20 per hour, based on salary data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Glassdoor, and does not necessarily require prior experience in the same title.

Customer Service Representative

  • Median wage: $20.59 per hour

Customer service representatives are at the front line of companies’ relationships with their customers. You could potentially work in just about any industry to take orders, solve problems and resolve complaints. If your home office is within earshot of kids or barking dogs, look for chat- and email-based support positions.

Invoice/Billing Specialist

  • Median wage: $22.66 per hour

Invoice and billing specialists enter customer and billing information into company systems, verify charges and prepare invoices. Many work for medical or financial services providers. Those with prior experience or a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting can earn significantly more than the median wage.

Verification Specialist

  • Median wage: $23.81 per hour

Companies in many industries hire workers to verify information. For example, health services providers might use these employers to verify patients’ insurance coverage. Mortgage lenders might use them to verify borrowers’ financial information. Although the Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn’t list that title, a similar role, insurance claims and processing clerk, has a median hourly wage of $23.81, and Indeed lists jobs at that salary level.

Administrative Assistant

  • Median wage: $22.82 per hour

Administrative assistants — also known as virtual assistants in remote settings — perform a wide range of duties depending on the organization. Tasks may include managing projects, scheduling appointments and travel, drafting communications, assisting with presentations or social media, and maintaining financial records. Experienced administrative professionals can move into executive assistant roles, which have a median wage of $35.42 per hour.

Inside Sales Representative

  • Median wage: $57.69 per hour, including base salary and commission

Typical sales jobs might allow for home-based work, but you’ll still have to work in the field to meet with clients. Not so with inside sales, where you field incoming calls and make outgoing ones to develop leads and close deals.

Account Executive

  • Median wage: $61.54 per hour, including base salary and commission

An account executive is responsible for the company’s ongoing relationship with a client. While it’s a sales-related role in that account executives recommend products and services that meet their clients’ evolving needs, it also has a strong customer service component.
