Sometimes it can be fun to dream about the types of homes you would own if you won the lottery or suddenly fell into an astronomical amount of wealth. One man who could give us some inspiration is Jeff Bezos — after all, he’s one of the richest men in the world.

He is currently ranked the third richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $229.5 billion. With money like that, Bezos can definitely afford some fancy digs. Here’s a look into some of his vast and valuable real estate assets.

Setting Up Shop in Seattle

Let’s start with a city often associated with Bezos, who said he’s lived in Seattle longer than any other place. Bezos owns eight properties in Seattle. His real estate empire there is reportedly worth upwards of $190 million.

Bezos paid $10 million in 1998 for a 5.3-acre property in the wealthy Seattle suburb of Medina — a place that is home to Bill Gates and tech entrepreneurs. In 2010, he paid $45 million on an estate next door before buying the $3.9 million property across the street in 2015 — and there went the neighborhood.

Spending the Most From Coast to Coast

Those prices are far from the highest amounts Bezos has paid for homes. In fact, some of his purchases have broken records.

For instance, in 2019, he paid about $80 million for three adjacent apartments in New York City. It was the most expensive real estate deal south of Manhattan’s 42nd Street. The next year, he spent $165 million for the nine-acre Warner Estate in Beverly Hills– the most expensive home ever sold at the time in California’s history.

Bezos Leans Into the Floridian Trump Effect

In recent years, Bezos has focused his real estate purchases in Florida. He has several properties in Indian Creek Village — an island off the coast of Miami known as the “billionaire bunker,” as Business Insider detailed. In Miami, Bezos spent $68 million on a waterfront mansion, paid $79 million for the mansion next door and made a third purchase of $90 million for a six-bedroom home.

This exorbitantly pricey neighborhood of Indian Creek Village is where he also plans to construct and develop two more properties which he snagged for a combined bargain price of $147 million. With property value like this, it’s probably a good thing that this place is guarded by its very own police force.

As it is reported that Bezos no longer lives full-time in Washington, the Amazon tycoon will allegedly save around $610 million in taxes that he would have had to pay if he hadn’t moved to Florida.

Final Take To GO

The bottom line is that over the years, Bezos has purchased quite a few homes throughout the United States including everywhere from Seattle to Miami. He has picked up a ranch in Texas and homes in Washington state, Beverly Hills and Washington, D.C. as well, to name a few.

With a net worth of over a quarter trillion dollars, he can afford to buy real estate now and ask questions later.
