You might be aware that the richest person in the U.S., Jeff Bezos, calls The Emerald City home. Indeed, America’s coastal cities are where you can find some of America’s wealthiest people. But Bezos isn’t the only billionaire in town; in fact, he’s one of eight centibillionaires. In other words, there are seven others whose net worth tops $100 billion.
And yes, most of those centibillionaires live on the East and West Coasts. However, there are a few of them who don’t live in New York or California. In a recent move, Elon Musk relocated to Texas as his business priorities changed, primarily as he looked to focus on SpaceX and the new Austin Gigafactory.
In this gallery, we are going to take a look at some of America’s very richest people and the city and state they call home. Most of the names are big. Their place of residence? Less so, in some cases.

What Does All This Mean?
Which cities America’s billionaires call home helps bring clarity to what one might have guessed. That is the fact that many of the nation’s richest gravitate toward the cities that are the center of their industries. For example, New York is the nation’s financial capital; both Michael Bloomberg and Stephen Schwarzman, who made their money in the finance industry, call The Big Apple home. The same is true for Leonard Lauder, as New York is also a big city for the fashion industry. We also see this for billionaires in the tech industry, as with Larry Page, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates.
In other cases, some billionaires still live where their families settled. Such is the case for billionaires such as Warren Buffet and the Walton family. Thus, where billionaires choose to live is oftentimes either a business decision or a family decision. Perhaps money makes the world go round, but we cannot forget the importance of family.
