Best Deals at Walmart for Halloween 2022

No it’s not Black Friday or Amazon Prime Day, but it’s still a huge retail event: Halloween.

According to the National Retail Federation, Americans are set to spend $10.6 billion on Halloween this year — up from a record-smashing $10.1 billion in 2021. Consumers will be stocking up on Halloween decor, costumes and, of course, lots and lots of candy.

One of the best places to head for great prices on all things Halloween is Walmart. Here’s a look at some of the best finds you can nab there to celebrate the most ghoulish time of year. 

“If you’re planning on carving a jack-o-lantern or five, Walmart has a decent price at $4.98 each, although white pumpkins come in about 50 cents cheaper,” said Julie Ramhold, consumer analyst at DealNews.com.”

“And if you want mini pumpkins for the kids to paint or to use as centerpieces, a bag of five should only set you back about $3.48 or so. Obviously this is dependent on the area you live in, but if you’re shopping around for these items, Walmart has decent prices.”

“Walmart has costumes for the whole family, in a variety of characters, professions and more, all with prices starting around $5,” Ramhold said.

“Considering your kids are probably only going to want to wear their costume for this year and something totally different next year, it’s not worth shelling out a fortune for them. Plus, they can use their Walmart costumes for dressing up after the fact if that’s something they enjoy, so you’ll get some decent mileage out of them anyway.”

“Walmart has a huge variety of treats in general, but the Halloween candy is especially enticing given you can find some varieties for less than $2 a package,” Ramhold said.

“Whether you want to give trick-or-treaters the full-bar treatment, or you just want to keep fun-size candy on hand for yourself, stocking up at Walmart is easy and won’t drain your budget for Halloween or otherwise.”

“Simple indoor decorations start around $3, but even more expensive items won’t break the bank,” Ramhold said. “Look for things like resin skull decorations, metal jack-o-lantern candleholders, cauldron fogger machines, and multipack spider decorations to be around $20 each.”

“If you want to decorate your outdoor space, look for items to start around $7, but higher prices will mean more sophisticated pieces,” Ramhold said.

“For instance, you can get two skeletons that are carrying a coffin which can be used to hold party supplies such as drinks for around $265. You can also get an inflatable Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie from ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ for around $100. These are definitely pricier pieces, but if you have the budget and the room to display them, they could set your house apart from the rest of the neighbors.”

What’s a pile of candy with no container to put it in? Walmart has an ample selection of handy bags and buckets to stash your devilish confectionaries. You can get a traditional pumpkin head bucket for under $7, or you could go the bigger, fancier route with a $12.99 Halloween bag that lights up.
